RECYCLED COFFEE CAN

Here is another free craft made from a small International Coffee can.
Materials:
1 small cardboard coffee can(with metal rims)
1 lid 3.25" dia wood
1 wood ball 3/4" dia.
1 #8 x 3/4" flat head screw
Dark Walnut stain and Amber Shellac
Tools:
3.5" hole saw, screw driver, sander, sand paper, drill & bits, and small finish brush.
Steps:
1. Remove paper label from coffee can and sand the cardboard where the glue joint was(the glued area won't stain if not sanded).
2. Apply Walnut Stain and Amber Shellac to the cardboard area and to the metal rims, including the inner rim on the top as seen in second photo(amber shellac makes metal look like brass), apply 3 coats.
3. Use 3.5" hole saw to cut lid from 1/2" wood(or cut with scroll saw) and sand.
4. Drill pilot hole in 3/4" wood ball and attach to lid with flat head screw.
5. Sand and finish assembly with Amber shellac, apply 3 coats.
6. Put lid on can and enjoy your recycled decorative container.
Note: If you don't have the means to make the lid try the wood craft section of most craft stores or you can use a metal cover from a jar and paint to match. You can also make a lid by glueing about 10 disc of carboard(shoe box type) together, sand and finish.

Clicking on The Top 100 Craft Sites Report is a vote in that the more clicks we get from our site to that site the closer we move to the #1 spot on that site. So in that way it is a vote for our site. We also get credits when you look at some of the other listing on that site,
    Thanks!

  8. Woah! I'm really digging the template/theme of this blog. It's simple, yet effective.
A lot of times it's very hard to get that "perfect balance" between user friendliness and visual appeal. I must say that you've done a very good job with this.
Also, the blog loads super fast for me on Firefox.
    Excellent Blog!
