Size 7 knitting needles set of 4 or
circular needle.
Worsted Weight yarn 4 oz. skein
PATTERN:
Cast on 88 sts. Join to form a ring.
Work K2, P2, ribbing for about 1 ¼ inches.
Row 1: k2tog, but leave on the needle; then insert right-hand needle between the 2 sts just knitted together, and knit the 1st st again; then slip both sts off the needle; ( this will be considered the twist ) p2; repeat across.
Row 2-4: k2, p2, across.
Repeat rows 1-4 for 10”from edge.
Now start the decreases for top of hat.
Row 3: k2tog, p2, t(twist), p2 repeat around
Row 4: k1, p2, k2, p2 around
Row 5: k1,p2 tog, k2, p2 around
Row 6: k1, p1, k2, p2 around
Row 7: k1, p1,t(twist), p2 around
Row 8: k1, p1, k1, p2 around
Row 9: k1, p1, k1, p2tog around
Row 10: k1, p1, around
Row 11: k2tog
Cut yarn leaving about 16” tail slip yarn through remaining sts weave in ends secure.
You can add an I cord or pompom if you want.
